Download your data

Download a copy of your recipes and account data, and review one before you restore it.

Open Settings, then the Privacy and data tab.

Download my data

Choose Download my data to get a copy of your recipes and the data your account owns. It downloads as a ZIP file named like heirloom-account-export-2026-10-25.zip. It holds your data in a JSON file, with your photos beside it, and a check that nothing was changed.

If something goes wrong Thyme Kept stops and tells you “Could not download your data.” No partial file is given to you.

Restore my data

Restore my data lets you review an account export before anything is added to your account.

  1. Choose Choose an account export. Thyme Kept reads Thyme Kept ZIP files and older JSON exports, up to 250 MB. Nothing is restored while you review.
  2. Thyme Kept shows how many records are new, how many already exist and how many files would be restored.
  3. If some records already exist, choose Keep current records or Use the exported records.
  4. Choose Restore reviewed data.

To move recipes to another app

Use Export your recipes instead: it makes files other recipe apps can read.
