Cook with Cook Mode
Cook Mode shows one step at a time, with the ingredients and timers beside it.
Open a recipe and choose Cook. The button shows only when the recipe has steps.
Before you begin
Cook Mode opens on Ingredients & prep. Check each ingredient off as you measure it. When you are ready, choose Start cooking. You can start at any time.
While you cook
- One step at a time. The screen says “Step 3 of 8”, with the step. Choose Next step and Previous, or use the keys: Right Arrow or Space goes forward, Left Arrow goes back. On a phone or tablet, swipe left to go forward and right to go back.
- Ingredients for this step. For this step lists what the step uses. All ingredients shows the whole list.
- Timers. A step with a time gets a timer. Choose Start timer, then Pause, Resume or Restart, and +1 min or -1 min. To make your own, use Timer on the tool strip. A Timers tray shows the timers that are running.
- Scale. Recipe scale has Smaller batch and Bigger batch. When the amounts change, the ingredients you checked are cleared, so you can measure again.
- Cooking options. The menu has Larger text, All ingredients, Print recipe, Measurements (As written, Metric or US) and Start over.
Where your browser supports it, your screen stays awake while you cook. If the browser blocks it, Thyme Kept says your screen may dim.
When you finish
Choose Finish cooking on the last step. Thyme Kept asks “How did it go?”, and you can give a rating and notes for next time. To leave early, choose Recipe, or press Esc while you are cooking.
Your place, notes and timers are kept on this device.
